Finding Erasmus+ and Turing placements, especially for teachers who are in charge of organising the Erasmus+ mobilities and the Turing Scheme (in addition to their day job), can be a difficult task. We (TravelEdventures) offer a wide range of internships in many exciting areas and fields and are constantly updating our programmes. The following piece will inform you about the criteria that must be met before an Erasmus+ Mobility can start.
Requirements and Conditions of Participation
Have you already received a grant from Erasmus+ or do you need help with your Erasmus+ Turing Scheme application process? Do you already know which destination(s) you would like to visit and which fields of work you prefer? Before getting down to business, you should know whether your pupils meet all the requirements for an Erasmus+ placement abroad.
An Erasmus+ and Turing placement abroad is definitely not comparable to a language course but this doesn‘t mean that you necessarily have to be fluent in the national language. English is spoken in most companies these days. Besides independence and openness towards other cultures, we recommend all students have an advanced knowledge of English (B1 or higher). Note to all Erasmus+ accompanying teachers: Please try to make a realistic assessment of your pupils' language skills. The good news is that you can be sure that an Erasmus+ as well as Turing placement will definitely improve your students' feeling for the language.
Other conditions for Erasmus+ participation are that your pupils must be at least 16 years old and have a valid European citizenship or a permanent residence permit for Europe. If students need a visa for their Erasmus+ Mobility, please ask their parents or guardians to apply for it for themselves. For an Erasmus+ placement, a valid insurance policy (liability, accident and health insurance) for the foreign country is mandatory and must be presented to the host company.
What Documents Must be Sent to TravelEdventures Before an Erasmus+ Mobility?
If you or your pupils meet all the requirements and conditions for participation, all pupils will also go through the usual application procedure when applying for a traineeship. So, it is important to start by compiling well-written application documents.
For this, each participant should write a cover letter (a letter of motivation) and include a curriculum vitae (CV). For the English letter of motivation, please use the following form of address: To whom it may concern / Dear Sir or Madam. We also recommend that you prepare a detailed Europass CV in English. This can easily be prepared online through the following website.
If you are interested in tips and tricks for a good CV for an Erasmus+ placement abroad, click here; Important: Write your Cover Letter and CV in English -or even better, in the language of your preferred destination. It is important that all references (if some students already have them), are professionally translated and certified. In many countries, employer references are more important than school grades. Please make sure that all files are saved as pdf files and sent them us by e-mail.
If we can help you with your flight booking, please send us your valid passports and/or identity cards together with the TravelEdventures passport list (filled in!)
In order to be able to start organising the internship places, we ask you to send us the Europass CVs together with the list of participants (filled in!) by e-mail. The list of participants should include all participating persons (pupils and if applicable, accompanying teachers) as well as any accommodation and insurance requirements and possible preferred internship sectors to help us organise your Erasmus+ Mobility.
Our group leaders are also available for you to contact in advance via Whatsapp or Skype. From a group size of 10 people per destination, they are included free of charge during the first week and help you to get used to your new environment 😉.
We will be happy to send you the Erasmus+ Passport and Erasmus+ participant list on request (after confirmation of offer 😊). We must receive this list back at least 2 months before departure to ensure smooth organisation. In order to define all organisational matters and services to perfection and to coordinate them with you, a "TravelEdventures Cooperation-Agreement" will be drawn up and signed by both parties.
We hope that this article has helped you to get an overview of the documents required for your Erasmus+ project and their due dates. Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to advise you on your Erasmus+ stay.
