In this piece, we have carefully reviewed a variety of CVs and list the most important points to increase your chances of a successful Erasmus+ or Turing project.
First of all, it is important that the CV is written in the language of your Erasmus+ or Turing destination. If you do not speak the language of the destination (yes, this happens quite often 😊), the CV should be written in English.
Who Are You?
Are you in the middle of an apprenticeship or just about to graduate and would like to gain some work experience? First of all, remember that it's perfectly normal that you haven't gained much work experience yet. So don't worry, with the help of a good CV you can introduce yourself to the company you are interested in. Write a short letter of intent, describe who you are and what you are interested in. List some facts about yourself so that the reader can get an idea of the type of person you are.
What Type of Training Are You Doing and What Have You Learned So Far?
Tell the reader about your education and give him or her an idea of your school education and your interests. As an example, you should use a few short keywords that describe your education and training.
Show the reader what you have learned in the past. Not only within your school career, but also share personal experiences relevant to the job you are applying for. Have you already done an Erasmus+or Turing placement or any volunteering? It is a huge advantage to share your past experiences. By writing about what you have learned, you can also show that you are open to new learning experiences.
What Can You Do to Stand Out From Other Applicants?
The questions you should ask yourself are; what are you good at? Which programmes can you use? Do you speak different languages? What makes you better suited for the job than other candidates? Also ask yourself the following; what are your future goals? What do you want to improve on?
By sharing your personal values and goals, you will gain more empathy from the reader. Write your CV honestly and be honest with yourself and your ideas.
CV Design
Once you have answered the above questions, you will have a good basic framework for creating your own CV. We recommend that you use a Europass CV as a template, as it is really very easy to create, is recognised throughout Europe and is very well structured. This makes it easier to read and gives the reader a quick overview of your personality.
Be Relevant
In addition, the main aim is to increase the chances of you finding a suitable Erasmus+ or Turing traineeship. Make sure that all the information you include in your CV is relevant to the Erasmus+ traineeship that you are applying for. For example, if you are applying for different internships, you can adapt your work experience or skills to make them relevant to your planned Erasmus+or Turing project.
