Erasmus+ is an outstanding European scholarship programme that encourages young people to gain international work experience. To understand the exact definition of Erasmus+, see our blog article What Is Erasmus+ All About. With funding available for schools and organisations, we actively encourage both to make use of them! We help you to organise work experience weeks for students so that they gain valuable experience in their chosen vocation, while abroad – expanding their language and cultural skills. We will also help you with the Erasmus+ application for funding for the duration of stays and help you to circulate the results.

An Erasmus+ placement can be organised to cover any subject area. TravelEdventures has good international contacts with schools and youth organisations worldwide. We recommend that to ensure high quality Erasmus+ programmes with an excellent outcome for participating students and companies, the choice of internship should always be based on the specific learning programme of the students involved, as well as their personal development needs. This is the road to success when making an Erasmus+ grant application.

Understanding the Basic Requirements for an Erasmus+ Mobility

Erasmus+ is aimed at individuals, particularly as follows:

  • Students
  • Trainees
  • Apprentices
  • Pupils
  • Adult learners
  • Young people
  • Volunteers
  • University teachers
  • Other teaching staff
  • Trainers
  • Youth workers
  • Other persons active in the fields of education, training and youth.

Vocational Education and Training

Our Erasmus+ projects that cover vocational education and training are aimed at trainees, students, professionals, experts and trainers already in those areas

Erasmus+ projects in the field of school education are open to headteachers, teachers and other school staff, pupils in primary, lower and upper secondary education.

Erasmus+ projects in the field of adult education involve members of non-vocational adult education organisations, trainers, teachers and learners in non-vocational adult education.

ERASMUS+ placements are ideal for your group of pupils if...

  • Your students are flexible and open
  • Your students are between the ages of 16 and 25 years old
  • Your students are interested in gaining international work experience
  • Your students have a valid visa
  • Your students have liability insurance
  • Your pupils reside in Europe

In addition to flexibility and openness to other cultures, we recommend that students have an advanced level of English (B1 or higher).

Other Requirements

Further requirements include a minimum age of 16 years and a valid European citizenship or permanent residence permit for Europe. Participants in Erasmus+ projects may require a visa for residence in a programme or partner country where the activity takes place. All participating organisations must ensure that the necessary documents (short-term or long-term visas or residence permits) are obtained before the start of the stay. As processing may take several weeks, it is essential that the competent authorities apply for permits at a very early stage. If pupils need a visa for their Erasmus+ Mobility, please ask their parents or guardians to apply for one themselves.

For each Erasmus+ Mobility placement it is mandatory to have a valid insurance (liability, accident and health insurance) for the destination foreign country. If you do not have insurance for working abroad, you can take out the Europäische Reiseversicherung through us for the duration of your traineeship. You can find more information on insurance abroad in this blog article Insurance.

Programmes and grants usually last between 2 and 8 weeks, but can be extended to up to 6 months.
